Score 84/100 · Drink 1993-1997, Robert Parker, Feb 1993

Olivier's 1989 is one of the best efforts in some time from this perennial underachiever. The bouquet is dominated by gobs of spicy, new oak, and a sweet, almost Beaujolais-like, red fruit character. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied, light, and soft. It is a pleasant, picnic-styled claret that requires consumption over the next 3-4 years.

About the producer

Square Chateau Olivier
Olivier

Ch. Olivier is one of the few actual castles in Bordeaux – coming with a moat and drawbridge. Since Alexandre de Bethmann took over here in 2012, the château has been given a new lease of life, with quality on the rise.
