Score 86/100 · Drink 2011-2017, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Dec 2011

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2008 Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet presents intense, very ripe blackberry and blueberry aromas with hints of tar, licorice and some chocolate. Very rich, crisp and straightforward in the mouth, it has a medium to firm level of grainy tannins and a long finish. Drinking now, it should keep to 2017+. The first vintage of the good value Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet was 1976. Back then it was labeled as “Claret” in reference to the style rather than the grapes. In September 2011, Peter Gago put together a vertical of the Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, going back to the very first vintage. Importer: Treasury Wine Estates, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-4500
