Tasted at the Sauternes 2006 ten-year on horizontal in Bordeaux. The 2006 Doisy-Vedrines has quite a potent, botrytis-rich bouquet with honey, quince and marmalade scents billowing from the glass. The palate is crisp and fresh with a keen line of acidity that cuts through the barley sugar, dried quince and spice notes towards the finish. This is a great Doisy-Vedrines that will age well over the next 20-30 years. Tasted April 2016.

Very light nose. Tangy and lighter than many. Bit simple but pleasant enough. Polished. But a little like molten Spangles. Not the most complex. Racy and sweet. Good balance and it improved in the glass. (JR)

About the producer
Owned by the Castéja family (of Ch. Batailley) since 1946, Ch. Doisy-Védrines produces a particularly rich and full-bodied style of wine, with around 80% of the vines Semillon. Although located in Barsac, the wines are bottled under the Sauternes appellation.
