Serralunga d'Alba. Just mid ruby with just the beginning of orange. Dense nose with hints of fruitcake. Sweet strawberry fruit on the palate with just the right amount of acidity and firm tannins. Good introduction to Serralunga. (WS)
The 2010 Barolo is gorgeous. Sage, rosemary, tar, dried rose petals and sweet spices meld together. An impeccable, perfumed Barolo, the 2010 impresses for its balance. Fine, silky tannins support the gracious finish in this medium-bodied, refined Barolo. Readers who want to get a sense of what the 2010 vintage is all about will want to check out this fabulous effort from Massolino. This is decidedly a medium-bodied style for Serralunga, but it works.
Bright medium red. Perfumed aromas of raspberry, cherry, smoke and flint. Juicy, intense and sharply delineated; very pure and sappy in a pinot way. The vibrant red fruit and red licorice flavors are framed by firm, ripe tannins and finish with noteworthy length. Terrific entry-level Barolo with aging potential.
