Tasting notes
The 2005 Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco is an intensely spiced, layered Barolo with gorgeous scents of menthol, licorice, tar and anise, all of which are woven together in a delicate, medium-bodied frame of notable class. This understated Barolo offers outstanding balance and class. Like so many 2005s it is quite accessible at this point, but whether or not it shuts down in the future remains an open question.

Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. These are two beautiful Barolos from Guido Porro, a small grower based in Serralunga. I am not sure how the wines will age based on their somewhat ethereal, fragile personalities, but they are without question highly attractive. Importer: Kermit Lynch, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524
