Tasting notes
The 2010 Barolo Coste & Bricco is a pretty and very balanced rendition with a lot more energy than the other two wines presented this vintage. Its tannins are both dry and slightly astringent. Give this wine time to unwind. Drink: 2017-2025. The big news from Matteo Ascheri is the introduction of a new wine, the Barolo Ascheri, inaugurated with the 2010 vintage. Matteo describes it as a wine that is as much about place as it is family roots: It so happens that his last name “Ascheri” is also the official vineyard designate. Barolo Ascheri will only be produced in the best years. Although the winemaking headquarters are in Bra, Matteo Ascheri owns vineyards and feels philosophically connected to Serralunga d’Alba. For this reason, I have grouped this winery in that township.
