The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos sports a bit of reduction on the nose, but there is power and intensity. The palate has a keen line of acidity with bitter lemon and lime. Taut and fresh, displaying admirable depth, but it needs bottle age to fully cohere. Four or five years in the cellar will benefit this Les Clos. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is a gorgeous, sophisticated wine. Exotic white flowers, mint, citrus and crushed rocks are some of the many notes that lift from the glass in a vivid, striking Chablis that speaks to finesse more than anything else. The intensity of the flavors is just remarkable, and yet the wine is light on its feet, gracious and incredibly inviting. The brisk, refreshing finish is sublime.
Even with the advantage of frost protection, Moreau only achieved yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare with his 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, but it was enough to mature half of the cuvée in tank and half in barrel. The wine unwinds slowly in the glass with aromas of wheat toast, beeswax, green apple, ripe citrus fruits and almond paste, followed by a full-bodied, satiny and racy palate that's quite taut and fine-boned, with a penetrating, chalky finish.
