The 2016 Bourgogne Rouge is absolutely divine. Beautifully defined black plum and wild strawberry mixed with pressed violet petal feature on a nose that, frankly, is indistinguishable from a Premier Cru. The palate is full of tension, almost chalky tannins framing the vibrant black fruit with exquisite detail on the finish. Bought off a restaurant list for under €50, this was money very well spent. Tasted at Maufoux restaurant in Chablis while relishing England's victory over Germany in the Euros.

Bursting with aromas of cherries and dried flowers, subtly framed by new oak, the 2016 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is medium-bodied, satiny and supple, laden with juicy, crunchy fruit. It's an attractively pure, succulent wine from Coche-Dury.
