Tasting notes
Deep ruby. Oak-driven aromas of cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco and grilled meat. The oak tones continue on the palate, which features cherry and dark berry flavors along with suggestions of dried herbs. This firm, solidly built wine seems a bit bound up right now and dominated by its wood element.

This big, blockbuster Shiraz (100 cases produced) was aged in a combination of new and old French and American oak. Its deep purple color is accompanied by aromas of graphite, blackberries, cherry liqueur, cola, smoke, and damp earth. Full-bodied and chewy, with abundant glycerin, moderately sweet tannin, and an impressively long, packed finish, it can be drunk now, but will be even better in 2-3 years. It should last for a decade or more. Importer: Jane Delaney, The Ravensvale Group, Greenwich, CT; tel. (800) 580-0052
