2013 Domaine Coche-Dury Meursault Les Rougeots

The 2013 Meursault Les Rougeots has a refined bouquet, not that far from the village cru in style, with fine tension and detail, a hint of honeysuckle there and orange blossom here. The palate is linear at first, nicely defined with lychee, white peach and dried pineapple. This feels elegant and long in the mouth with a gentle tender on the finish that gently fans out. It is a winsome Les Rougeots, although perhaps the Meursault Villages might dare to have the edge this year?

JF Coche thinks this vineyard should be premier cru. Admits Tessons should be too. But it would result in a coupure du village . Big and bold. No hint of matchstick! Lovely richness. Great balance. Great power and yet refreshment. (JR)

Musky, leesy aromas of citrus fruits, hazelnut and white truffle. Youthfully tight and sharply delineated, showing terrific mineral cut to the lemon, lime and ginger flavors. Raphael Coche told me that this wine began "very strict" but really exploded following the malolactic fermentation.
