The 1993 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which came directly from the domaine, has a surprisingly youthful and quite showy bouquet, atypical for this producer. The palate is medium-bodied and perhaps does not deliver the complexity, the breeding you expect. It is a workmanlike Echézeaux rather than a showstopper. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune.

I regret to say that this estate produced out of balance 1993s with frightfully low PH's, high acids, brutal tannin levels, and not enough fruit or flesh. None of the wines possessed enough extract to stand up to the harsh, severe tannins. They are all likely candidates to dry out.
