A dark ruby, the estate’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino offers notes of super-ripe dark fruit, flowers, spices, chocolate, sweet oak and underbrush with a round, supple personality, excellent concentration as well as length, and fine tannins. Deep red-ruby. Plum, cherry, cola, sassafras and menthol on the nose. Supple, spicy, dense and classically dry, with insidious concentration; this is stuffed with material. Very suave Brunello, finishing with fine, sweet tannins and very good length.
Diffuse nose without great concentration. Lightweight though thoroughly pleasant attack. As a Brunello a bit of a softie, with some astringency on the finish though no great personality. (JR)
