Bright, dark red. Very ripe nose shows a distinctly party quality. Sweeter and fatter than the basic bottling, with notes of herbs and licorice, but offers less definition and verve, despite possessing rather strong acidity. Finishes with dusty, drying tannins. A rather awkward combination of roasted flavors and ungiving texture. (Stick to this producer's excellent regular bottling. )

Altesino is one of the top producers in Brunello di Montalcino. The estate is famous for bottling the first separate Cru from the Montosoli hill, which has since become widely recognised for its distinct, elegant style of Brunello.
