Tasting notes
Deep red. Sexy raspberry and strawberry preserve aromas are fresh and incisive. Pure, cool red berry flavors stain the palate but are zesty and almost weightless. Spiciness builds with air and carries into the finish. A suave, graceful style of pinot, with admirable finishing cut and superb persistence.

As for the 2005 Pinot Noir Finn, this is another impeccably well-made wine, revealing a slightly darker ruby hue to it than its siblings. Displaying notes of sassafras, black fruit such as currant, and deep, very ripe raspberries, the wine is full-bodied and rich, with terrific acidity and a smoky meatiness on the palate. The wine should drink nicely for at least 7-10 years. Proprietor Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith, are doing sensational work in the cool-climate areas of the Russian River. This has become one of my favorite tastings of the year, and not only are their Chardonnays and Pinot world-class, but they have extended their brilliance to both Viognier and Syrah. This is a winery that is clearly on top of its game and pushing all the right buttons in terms of quality.
