Just as stunning from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2012 Les Pierres Qui Décident jumps from the palate with an enticing array of slate, silex, lemon and white flowers. This energetic, pulsating Sauvignon Blanc will thrill readers who enjoy focused whites. There is so much to like here.

(all sauvignon musque and 100% new oak): Hazy, green-tinged straw. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes fresh citrus fruits, ginger and smoky minerals, with a suave floral accent. Taut and penetrating on the palate, offering intense Meyer lemon, green apple and honeysuckle flavors that are deepened by a vanilla nuance. Closes with superb clarity and length, leaving a stony note behind. This label is a new joint project of husband-and-wife team Bibiana Gonzalez-Rave (ex-Lynmar, currently at Pahlmeyer's Wayfarer project and her own Cattleya project) and Jeff Pisoni, of Pisoni Vineyards and Winery.
