Tasting notes
The 2021 Riesling Ayler Kupp Kabinett No. 5 is Lauer's auction wine of which 800-900 bottles were made, with half of it sold to the US. The nose is still full of reduction but the palate immediately shines with bright green apple and lemony barley sugar. This is exquisitely light, almost frivolous with its exuberant fruit - a joyful little dancer that flits across the stage with such ease that one forgets all the hard work that went into such an effortless effect. The 42g/L of residual sweetness come across as much lighter. Bravo. Long and absolutely seductive. (Medium)

Welcome to the herb garden! Such a juicy entry, but then the mineral turbo kicks in and this shoots off into riesling hyperspace. Staggering lime freshness. After this, it’s not so easy to come back to earth again and return to normal wines. Limited production. Sustainable. Drink or hold.
