A deep ruby color, the NV Champagne Rose De Saignée Brut is expressive and perfumed yet elegant and refined, with candied red pomegranate, fresh grapefruit and orange peel, and loads of rosy perfume. From the base of 2021, it has a lovely, refined, pinpoint mousse and medium to full body, though only in its richness of Bouy. It’s light on its feet and has a bright and focused feel with purity. Drink 2025-2035. Delphine Vesselle is a third-generation winemaker located in the Grand Cru village of Bouzy. Her father Jean Vesselle took over the family business in 1972 and changed the name to give his own name to the company. Delphine returned from her wine studies in 1992 and took over control of the winery in 1993, when she was 22 years old. She stopped using insecticides and weed killers upon her return. For the past five years, they have worked organically in Bouzy and Chouilly and implemented some biodynamic principles. In 2021, they began the official conversion for organic certification and will be certified in 2025. Today, they have a little over 17 hectares, with total production of 160,000 bottles, 83% of which is exported. The philosophy in the winery is to treat each wine with an equal level of care and importance without elevating one wine as a prestige cuvée.

The NV Champagne Rosé De Saignée pours a rich pink hue and offers forward, expressive aromas of wild berries and strawberry. It has a sunny feel aromatically and is ripe with blood orange. Full on the palate and round, with a frothy mousse and some tannin structure, it offers ripe fruit throughout as well as delicate saline. Drink 2023-2033. 8.5 grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in April 2021, the latest release of Vesselle's NV Brut Rosé de Saignée is performing well, exhibiting aromas of smoky red berries, plums and orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and generous palate that's complemented by a pillowy mousse. It's an attractive gastronomic Champagne, but it's elegant enough to work well unaccompanied too.
