1998 Vilmart et Cie Grand Cellier d'Or Brut 1er Cru

A note of varnish quickly dissipated, leaving exotic, somewhat high-toned aromas of ginger, mace, nutmeg and cocoa powder. Spicy and exotic, with juicy, very intense flavors and an impression of strong extract. Rich, ripe and quite fine-grained, with the strong spice character giving this singular wine an almost sweet impression. Lifted by a floral note of orange blossom. Finishes very long and unflagging, with a strong flavor of sweet spices. I would hardly describe this as classic Champagne , but I am a major fan of the Vilmart style.
