A very ripe nose features notes of intense violets, espresso, mocha, plum and very subtle wood spice that can also be found on the rich to the point of being opulent big-bodied flavors that possess terrific concentration and outstanding depth. This is a big and very powerful wine that drenches and saturates the palate with huge amounts of dry extract and delivers positively huge length trimmed in obvious wood toast. This is really a fine effort that displays perhaps the best depth of any of these '05s if not necessarily the best depth.

Ruby-red. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, mocha and smoked meat. Fat and very ripe, with dense black fruit and chocolate flavors verging on heavy. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. Is this in an awkward stage today or is it too massive and ripe for its own good?
