Tasting notes
From Rutherford, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III is another Beckstoffer Vineyard that produces fabulous Cabernet fruit. Licorice, blueberries, blackberries, new saddle leather, sweet spices and Asian plum sauce are all present in this dense purple-colored, opaque, full-bodied, majestic Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for at least 25-30 years.

Firm beams of underlying tannin give the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III much of its explosive, powerful energy. Slightly austere, but pulsing with life, the 2013 hits the palate with a rush of iron, smoke, cedar, crushed rocks, lavender and white pepper. Hints of blood orange and chalk add further complexity on the finish. This is another wine endowed with real personality.
Dense and powerful to the core, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard is very much closed in on itself. Today, it is the wine's pure energy and structure that stand out most. Black cherries, spices, licorice and leather emerge, but only with great reluctance. The 2013 is likely to need a few years in bottle to start opening up.
