The 1992 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru came directly from the domaine and yet I find it very disappointing. Unmistakably green on the nose, it is clear that the fruit did not achieve phenolic ripeness, whilst the palate is harsh with raw tannins and a rather vegetal finish. Just a poor wine. Tasted at a private dinner at home.

Initial hints of bricking. Earth, sous bois and spice notes lead to round, supple, sweet flavors that have a certain vegetal quality to them. There is however good richness, noticeable structure and the finish comes up a bit short. While this will undoubtedly continue to soften, it's unlikely to improve. In short, this is delicious in a robust fashion and it should hold for another decade. Allen Meadows, Burghound Nov13,2003
