The 2014 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru delivers impressive aromatic intensity on the nose—there is no messin' about here, you are clearly in Grand Cru territory. Yellow plums commingle with fennel and walnut scents, a touch of smoke lingering in the background. Wonderful delineation. The palate feels rounded and sensual on the entry, very harmonious with just a touch of viscosity and then there is that peacock's tail on the finish that completes a fabulous Chevalier La Cabotte. Tasted at the "Four" dinner at Bouchard Père in Beaune.

Complex, surprisingly expressive aromas of peach, creme brulee, hazelnut and minerals. The wine's compelling sweetness is buffered by its strong acidity and penetrating stony character. Wonderfully intense. Aristocratic, explosive finishing flavors of liquid stone and menthol show great aromatic lift and sappiness. This may be as good as the 2005.
Wonderfully subtle nose offers lemon, apple, peach, baking spices, grilled nuts and stones. Denser and fatter than the "regular" Chevalier-Montrachet, with highly complex flavors of stone fruits, baking spices, minerals and crushed stone. There's still a bit of malic acidity remaining, but this wine was glorious in early June.
