Score 91/100 · Drink 2019-2032, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2015 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is dominated by oak on the nose that renders it generic, robbing it of the personality of some of its peers. The palate is balanced with a smooth, slightly honeyed opening, and there is well-judged acidity. What’s missing is a core of mineralité and a convincing statement of terroir . Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure)

Tasted blind, the 2015 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly showed especially well, displaying a classy but reserved bouquet of citrus oil, nutty new oak and subtle reduction. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with bright acids, good concentration and a taut, grippy finish. While Colin's Chassagne Caillerets and Montrachet were rich and outgoing, this En Remilly was more classical in profile and represents an especially attractive proposition in the 2015 vintage.
