The 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos St. Jean is another attractive wine with plenty near-term appeal. Mint, almond, apricot, nectarine and spice notes all flesh out in a relatively weightless, gracious wine long on balance. The Clos St. Jean is a bit understated and ethereal in this vintage, but very nicely done just the same.

A very fresh if otherwise similar nose though the palate impression is different here as the medium-bodied flavors are not quite as concentrated though they are finer. There is a fine sense of underlying tension to the seductively textured mouth feel that delivers fine length and excellent intensity. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2017+
