Quite open and tangy. Very fresh – ferns and sweet orange peel. Very direct. No weakling! Maybe slightly short. (JR)

Medium red. Cherry, spices and a whiff of underbrush on the nose. Spicy, sweet and penetrating, offering a firm spine and good juicy cut for the vintage. Less fruity today than the 2008 version: d'Angerville says he finds these 2007s to be very closed after the bottling. Has the structure to age for a decade or more without difficulty.

Deep crimson. Warming nose with a hint of putty. Fresh, rich, satisfying depth of flavour. Still much more youthful than the Fremiets and Champans – high-altitude wine effect? Pure and punchy. Still some fine tannins. Aigu, sharp-edged. Wonderful purity. (JR)

(from a steep vineyard featuring white soil) Good deep, bright red. High-pitched aromas of raspberry, licorice, pepper and crushed stone, plus a whiff of menthol. Sappy, racy and noble, with pure, sharply delineated flavors of cherry and stone. Comes across as reserved today owing to an impression of higher acidity. Youthfully tight wine, finishing with excellent purity and energy and a real whiplash of flavor. This should develop more volume with four or five years in bottle.
