Dark garnet still with a very polished textured and plenty of dried strawberry and toffee on the nose. It’s full and seemingly chewy with a softness and decadence. Reminds me of when I first tasted this with Aubert de Villaine at his house in 1983. So gorgeous now.

Another very racy, lacy wine but this one is really luscious and extraordinarily long. There’s perhaps a very slightly metallic note but also amazing concentration for a 40-year-old wine. Long. Sweet and jewelly. Very, very long and powerful. Another palate punch of a wine (like the Tâche 1966) and yet so elegant and charming too. (JR)
