Tasting notes
Tasted 4 Times With Inconsistent Notes Nearly black in color, the 1945 Trotanoy offers a reticent but emerging nose of minerals, licorice, and jammy plums. The wine is nearly impenetrable as well as frightfully tannic. With such amazing concentration and extract levels, there still remains the possibility that everything will weld together. If so, this wine could easily live for 100 years. It is not yet ready for prime time drinking! People fortunate enough to own well-stored bottles should either decant it 7-8 hours before drinking, wait another 15-20 years, or enroll their children in a wine appreciation course. Amazing!

About the producer

Château Trotanoy was one of the first recognised Premier Cru sites on the Pomerol plateau, with records dating back to the late 1700s. Even back in the nineteenth century it was seen as the best site in Pomerol second only to Vieux Château Certan.
