2003 was clearly, if somewhat surprisingly given the already rich and powerful character, a fine vintage for Bâtard and Boudot delivers with his as well. Notably elegant white flower fruit nuanced with subtle spice and green apple notes lead to big, rich and powerful flavors that possess impressive detail and though not as much concentration as I would have expected nor quite as much complexity yet this is well-balanced, punchy and altogether satisfying. I would give this 2 to 3 years in the cellar.

Displaying excellent depth, focus, and concentration, this medium-bodied wine boasts a toasted oak-laced spiced mineral-flavored personality. It should be drunk over the next 7 years. Citrus hints on the nose, complicated by acacia flower and smoky oak. Chewy, full, ripe and rich, with decent freshness and good balance. Offers more definition and life in the mouth than the Bienvenue. These vines suffered less than those in Chevalier-Montrachet, noted Boudot.
