The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is rather dark and somber. Dried herbs, incense, licorice, espresso and tobacco play off a core of blackberry fruit. Time has softened some of the bruising contours that were present at the outset, releasing gorgeous inner sweetness and perfume. I expect the 1999 will drink well for another 10-15 years, maybe more. It’s in fine shape tonight.

Togni's 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a dark, virile wine. Scorched earth, herbs, licorice, smoke, espresso and tobacco infuse the 1999 with tons of power, but there is striking inner sweetness here as well. Soft tannins make the 1999 a real pleasure to taste today. I imagine the 1999 has at least another decade of prime drinking ahead. This is such a gorgeous and immensely pleasing wine today.

Dark red with ruby tones. Dark fruits, tobacco and spices on the nose. A densely packed midweight with penetrating flavors of redcurrant, tobacco, spices and pencil shavings complicated by a subtle element of lurking peppery herbacity that only adds to its complexity. Very cleanly made wine with a strong spine of acidity and suave, refined tannins. This energetic wine was sharply delineated from the start and is evolving slowly and gracefully.
