The 2006 Bienvenue Batard Montrachet has a slightly honeyed bouquet with touches of lanolin and yellow flowers, perhaps a hint of walnut oil developing with time. Returning later, there is an attractive touch of custard cream. The palate is well-balanced with a touch of spice on the entry and hints of tangerine emerging on the nicely poised finish that demonstrate good length, if not the panache of other vintages from Carillon.

(from a .11 ha parcel of 45+ year old vines that generally are not very productive;aged in 50% new wood). A subtly spicy honey-suckle, apricot, white peach and citrus-infused nose is the perfect introductionto the pure and exceptionally fresh, indeed even racy flavors that are full of energy while culminating in a finish that exudesthat wonderful sense of underlying tension. This is always the best wine in the Carillon range and the 2006 is no exception.2013+

Pure, subdued aromas of minerals, truffle, hazelnut and vanilla. Sweet but pure, with excellent cut and precision to the minerally mid-palate. Not a fat style but there's plenty of extract here, not to mention terrific energy. The building finish is chewy and suave, with lovely aromatic persistence and a lingering spice character.

Reticent nose hints at clove and menthol. Juicy, tightly wound and very firmly built, with peach and lemon fruit flavors complicated by a floral nuance and supported by solid structure for the year. Shows the more serious, less easy side of 2006. This has 4.2 grams of acidity, notes Jacques Carillon, on the high side for the vintage here. My empty glass gave off scents of truffle and hazelnut.
