The 2017 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a much subtler bouquet than the Les Caillerets, the grilled walnut, almond and light smoky aromas gently wafting from the glass. The palate is built around tension and nervosité, very classic in style. Walnut and hazelnut notes emerge toward the finish, which fans out with style. This is a fabulous Genevrières that deserves long-term aging.
The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières bursts from the glass with aromas of green pear, citrus oil, fresh peach, hazelnuts, pastry cream and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with an expansive and textural attack that segues into a racy, tensile core, concluding with a beautifully precise, mineral finish. This is a tour de force Genevrières that will be worth every effort to track down.
