Bright, light yellow. Riesling-like aromas of white stone fruit, anise and petrol. Juicy and densely packed, with lovely energy to its flavors of fresh peach, nectarine and minerals. This tight, serious wine finishes sweet, tactile and long, with impressive richness and lift. A superb village wine.

The 2009 Meursault Les Chevalières is quite rich and sensual. An open, expressive bouquet leads to layers of radiant pears, spices, minerals and crushed rocks. The Chevalières shows lovely mid-palate juiciness that fills out its contours very nicely. Elements of brightness linger on the saline finish. This is a marvelously complete wine from Fichet that can be enjoyed today or cellared for at least a few years.

Picking began on September 2 and lasted just 5 days as opposed to the more typical 7-8. The wines spent 12 months in oak followed by 6 months in steel. These are some of the most bright, tense wines of the vintage. In that sense, they don’t have a lot of vintage character per se, despite being very appealing.
