Good deep red. Full-blown, slightly candied aromas of plum and raspberry syrup, mocha, rose petal and underbrush. Not hugely sweet on the palate, but dense and plush, with powerful framboise, wild strawberry and mineral flavors. Quite long and penetrating on the youthfully wound-up finish. May ultimately merit an even higher score. Also tasted: Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers.

Good bright, deep red. Tangy aromas of raspberry liqueur, cocoa powder and brown spices. Fat, thick and minerally, with surprising lift. A very large-scaled, full wine that somehow avoids heaviness. Chewy, sappy, spicy and very long, with major, ripe tannins buried under fruit and sweet oak. At the edge of too much. Am I underestimating this?
