Tasting notes
The 2017 Syrah Rosella's Vineyard was made using 27% whole cluster and aged in 22% new French oak. It's deep purple-black in color and scented of dark chocolate, warm black cherries, blackcurrants, blackberry pie, olive, cured meats, violet, cast-iron pan, beef drippings and baked black plum. The palate is full-bodied, big and bold with plush, savory fruits, firm, chewy tannins and integrated freshness, finishing very long and very savory. This needs more time in bottle. 208 cases were made.

Moving to the Santa Lucia Highland releases, the 2017 Syrah Rosella's Vineyard is deeply colored and has a ripe, incredibly sexy nose of blue fruits, chocolate, bacon fat, and plenty of bloody, meaty, iron notes. Medium to full-bodied, with beautiful fruit and building tannins, it’s an undeniably beautiful wine from one of the great sites in the region. It will keep for 10-12 years.
The 2017 Syrah Rosella's Vineyard offers a gorgeous expression of this Santa Lucia Highlands site. Blood orange, mint, red cherry jam, pomegranate and wild flowers give the 2017 myriad shades of nuance to play off the wine's creamy, generous feel. Even today, from barrel, the 2017 is incredibly inviting and flat-out delicious.
