Tasting notes
Certainly on par with the single parcel releases, the 2022 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes is 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre raised all in larger foudre. It has a gorgeous nose of wild strawberry and raspberry-like fruit intermixed with loads of spice and Provençal goodness. It's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, elegant mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and great finish. It shows the slightly less concentrated style of the vintage yet just shines for its complexity, balance, and length. Drink bottles over the coming 10-12+ years.

Offering a deep and youthfully sapid bouquet of dark cherries, violet, spices and herbs, the 2022 Gigondas Classique Vieilles Vignes, a blend of 8% Grenache Noir and 20% Mourvèdre, is medium to full-bodied, enrobing and perfectly balanced, with a juicy texture, good depth at the core and a structured but well-integrated tannic frame. Matured for 12 months in foudres, this classic, beautifully crafted Gigondas finishes long and elegant, with a lingering spicy aftertaste.
The intricate 2022 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes blooms with alluring strawberry compote, blackberry, black plum and spicy characteristics. Full-bodied and concentrated, the 2022 is a rock-solid rendition of this cuvée built for the long haul. Give it at least two more years in a cool cellar before pulling the cork.
80% Grenache, 20% Mourv èdre. Aged in 500-litre foudres for 12 months. Certified organic. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Juicy and inviting nose with pastille fruits, strawberry, tobacco and damp earth. A sweet attack and a lick of oak on the finish – quite approachable already. (AC)
