Tasted blind. Orangey gold. Slightly grey-rotten smell but very rich and sweet with sufficient acidity. Just not as whistle clean as some. (JR)

The 1998 Suduiraut has a rather disappointing nose after 20 years, lacking the intensity of the 1999 and just a bit...anonymous in style. The palate is slightly better with pretty Clementine, orange zest and pepper notes, and moderate depth but just rather short on the finish. It does its job with minimum of fuss, the least required without getting a reprimand. Tasted at the Suduiraut vertical at the château.

Deep gold. Smoky and not quite fresh. Not the finest – not as good as this estate is now. A bit dusty and sugary. (JR)

Pale to medium gold in color, the 1998 Suduiraut gives delicate lemon pastilles and lime cordial notions with peach blossoms, honeycomb and ceps in the background. Both unctuous and refreshing in the mouth, some compelling white pepper and powdered ginger notions come through on the long finish.
