2019 Quintessa Sauvignon Blanc Illumination***

My favorite of the nine vintages presented, Quintessa's 2019 Illumination is 61% Napa and 39% Sonoma, being 61% Sauvignon Blanc (Musqué), 24% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon. Most of the wine was fermented and aged in used French oak barrels, with smaller proportions seeing concrete egg (21%), stainless steel (10%), new French oak (5%) and acacia (2%). Pink grapefruit and white peach notes mingle easily on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is silky and fine, with a long, harmonious finish and no sharp edges.
