Tasting notes
(from "the Canyons" on the western side of Red Mountain): Bright, full ruby. Pungent thyme and lavender notes accent bright blackberry and blueberry aromas, with Taransaud spices contributing additional sex appeal. Wonderfully dense, generous, sweet and seamless, with its dark berry fruit flavors complicated by a cocoa note and lifted by citrus zest. Very ripe, impeccably balanced Cabernet with outstanding length and no rough edges. And a splendid performance for young vines.

Another Pauillac look alike is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Shaw Red Mountain Vineyard, which comes from a single parcel of steep, rock slopes in the northwest section of Red Mountain. It offers classic notes of black currants, dark chocolate, scorched earth and smoke tobacco. With full-bodied richness, a stacked mid-palate and present yet sweet tannin, this sensational Cabernet from Washington State will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring, and it will keep for two to three decades.
