Ripe damson, warm and generous. More savoury on the palate and full bodied though the tannins keep it upright. Slightly hard finish. (JH)

An inexpensive bargain in this vintage, the soft, elegant Lamarque displays loads of round, generous red and black currant notes with a hint of underbrush, but the lushness and easygoing appeal will make it a very popular wine. It should drink well for 5-7 years. (Tasted once.)

Pretty dark crimson. Some unusual oak on the nose. Some kitchen spice...? Lots of sweet fruit in a refreshing left-bank style. Though there is some pretty drying tannin on the back palate. Not mellifluous. Nor classic. (JR)
