Tasting notes
Modern, ripe and powerful, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Campogiovanni Il Quercione is an opulent and thickly layered red wine that flaunts its many positive attributes with flair and confidence. First, there is the fullness and plushness of the wine that is backed by beautifully ripe cherry and blackberry. Those aromatic accents are rendered more complex and interesting thanks to background notes of spice and cured leather. The wine's appearance is dark and thickly concentrated. Soft tannins wrap over the palate but the wine shows a long trail of power and determination.

A big, richly textured wine, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Il Quercione is long on depth and intensity. Sweet French oak shapes the wine to a considerable degree, yet there is enough depth to allow the 2010 to drink well for at least another handful of years. Smoke, licorice, tobacco, menthol and savory herbs wrap around a core of plush fruit in this richly textured, inviting Brunello.
