Tasting notes
The 1993 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is maturing extremely well. It has a wonderful nose of freshly sliced morels and singed leather, plenty of red fruit emerging with time. There is a melted quality about this Chambolle-Musigny, which is very harmonious, with a core of ferrous fruit, and quite dense toward the finish. A typical de Vogüé that is probably à point . Excellent.

The 1993 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses, now at over 20 years of age, appears to have evolved an attractive bouquet with scents of raspberry, camphor and wild mint, all well defined. The palate is smooth and sensual on the entry, an Amoureuses that is well balanced, though not as complex as other vintages that I have encountered with hints of seaweed and iodine surfacing on the finish. This Amoureuses is still youthful, despite its age, and personally I would leave this another five years.
Absolutely gorgeous black, spicy, impressively focused fruit that merges seamlessly into ripe, powerful, delineated flavors culminating in a long, penetrating finish. As with the Chambolle villages, this too has begun to mellow though it should continue to improve for another few years. Drinks like a smaller-scaled version of the '93 Musigny and if this continues its upward climb, my score may very well be conservative. Consistent notes.
