Score 18/20 · Drink 2010-2023, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2017

Very pale lemon straw colour. Featherlight, delicate, pure and clean. There is blackcurrant leaf fruit here and massive delicacy. Off dry. Wonderfully zen and a really beautiful palate cleanser. (JR)

Deep, intense smoky mineral aromas are intermingled with talcum powder and poached pears in the aromatic profile of the 2001 Riesling Kabinett Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Armed with the richness generally associated with a Spatlese (or higher!), this penetrating, ethereal wine coats the taster's palate with lush, silky waves of red currants, honeysuckles, pears, and raspberries. As is typical with wines from this estate, this offering reveals some trapped CO2, which adds to its lively, gorgeously precise and refined personality. Drink it over the next 10 years.
