Score 97/100 · Drink 2027-2042, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Jan 2026

The 2021 Chardonnay Kathryn Hermann Cuvée also comes from the Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, but it matured for 23 months in French oak puncheons (the Chehalem Mountain Chardonnay is matured for just one year). It has complex, arresting aromas of candle smoke, crème brûlée, yellow peach, elderflower and white tea. The full-bodied palate is expansive and satiny, its concentrated, spicy flavors balanced by vibrant acidity, and it has an epically long finish. Generous yet tense, it should be long lived in the cellar.

The 2021 Chardonnay Kathryn Hermann Cuvée comes from grapes harvested on September 24, and the wine was matured for 23 months in 100% new Billon oak. It has singular aromas reminiscent of cinnamon stick and cashews, which very slowly give way to reveal pure Meyer lemon and Hawaiian flowers. The palate is bursting with gregarious flavors that run the gamut from citrus to honey. Its acidity is electric and adds a shimmery quality to the wine that calls you back on the very long, dynamic finish. Only 136 cases were made. (EB)

Lots of dried apple with apricot flesh and peel with some reduction giving it hints of flint on the nose. Full-bodied and powerful with a chewy texture that gives this fantastic structure. It’s layered and tannic. A wine for long term aging.

The 2021 Chardonnay Kathryn Herman Cuvée is decidedly savory and perfumed with dusty florals and hints of ginger and green apple. This flows across the palate with ease, building with citrusy and flinty mineral tension. A cascade of crunchy orchard fruits creates a more tactile feel toward the close. It finishes long yet clean with a bitter tinge puckering the cheeks and a lingering savory herbal flourish. Totally stimulating. (EG)
