Tasting notes
From a site in the village of Chassagne that's a veritable heat trap comes the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos des Murées, a fleshy, enveloping, medium to full-bodied wine evocative of pear, white flowers, orange blossom and honeycomb. Céline Gagnard told me that her team couldn't work in this vineyard in the afternoon in 2018 and 2019 as it was simply too warm.

Slight whiff of struck match and gunfint. Also has the smoky note on the palate with apple-led fruit and bags of freshness too. A very refined style that should age nicely. (AC)
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Murées 1er Cru is a one-third-hectare monopole of the domaine. This sports a slight reduction on the nose, so give it a short decanting if drinking young. The palate is dense and quite spicy in the mouth, with a touch of ginger on the finish. Fine, though a little heavy at the moment.
