The 2015 Meursault À Mon Plaisir Clos du Haut Tesson is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of waxy citrus rind, Anjou pear, beeswax and iodine, framed by a light touch of leesy reduction. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a broad, textural attack that segues into a tense, structured mid-palate, concluding with a long finish. While this may not be Jean-Marc Roulot's favorite kind of vintage, he has produced a superbly balanced wine that is built for the cellar.

More energy than 2009, says Jean-Marc Roulot. A hot year, thick skins, hard to press, lots of solid matter for not so much juice. Just starting to show a tertiary complexity, a cedary breadth, a honeyed lemon core. Broad and rich, lots to chew on but finishes fresh. Savoury and with a touch of development that puts me in mind of Riesling, though it’s not really kerosene-like. Broad, yet with a savoury freshness. (JH)
(the crop level here was about 33 hectoliters per hectare, similar to the Tillets): Bright light yellow. Aromas of mandarin orange, spices and flowers. Very concentrated, tactile wine; a step up in intensity from the preceding wines, showing deep soft citrus and spice flavors accented by menthol and anise. Finishes very suave and quite long, dusty but not dry or phenolic and not a bit austere.
Cask sample. Clean and irreproachable but perhaps less exciting than the Tillets. Lots to chew on. Just a hint of pear juice, Long. (JR)
