Starting with the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape (85% Grenache and 15% Syrah), this classic effort has lots of Provençal charm and character in its red and black fruits, peppery garrigue, toasted nut, and subtly meaty aromas and flavors. It's medium-bodied, round, supple, and nicely textured, with ripe tannins. It will have 7-8 years of longevity.

The only cuvée produced in this challenging vintage, Cristia's 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, with the Grenache aged in concrete and the other varieties in foudres. Subtle herbal notes accent red cherries on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied and silky-textured but taut and tart, not particularly charming.
The pale ruby-colored 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. It opens with bright aromas of redcurrant, red cherry, raspberry, tomato leaf, white pepper, cedar and cloves. Full-bodied, refined and framed by ripe tannins, this 2021 is a well-structured effort from the Grangeon family.
80% Clairette, 20% Roussanne. Matured in demi-muids for six months. Tasted blind. Lots of ripe, rich oak on the nose. The oak is also present on the palate, which has an oily texture and warming alcohol. Dense and opulent and an almond-kernel, mealy finish. (AC)
