Tasting notes
Verduno. Clear ruby. Interestingly scented. Herbal and autumnal. Light and lively. Very vital. A little bit of direct ripe cherry fruit. Not heavy. Very user friendly. Lipsmacking freshness. Persistent. (JR)

The 2008 Barolo Acclivi is a gorgeous wine that captures the essence of the house style with a deep expression married to a classic sense of structure. Dark red cherries, flowers, licorice and mint wrap around the muscular, vibrant finish. The 2008 Acclivi is a classic, auster Barolo in the best sense of those terms. This is a fabulous showing from Burlotto, but readers will need to be patient.

Over the last few years the winery seems to have made a major jump in quality. The traditional style here remains a bit quirky but readers who are willing to take some time to explore these Baroli will be amply rewarded. Importers: The Rare Wine Co., Sonoma, CA; tel.
