Influence of botrytis has steered this bottling in a very dried-fruit direction, with purple plum, white peach and quince on the nose taking on a pasted impression on the palpably dense, glossy palate. There is also a delicate aura of raw mushroom. Licks of cinnamon stick and lime zest add to the vibrancy and tactile grip of a severely concentrated finish. This definitely needs some time.

The 2018 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Auslese is warm, ripe and cool on the precise nose that displays fascinating flinty notes of crushed wet stones and fresh lemon oil. The palate is lush, round, intense, salty-piquant and well-concentrated thanks to perfectly dry botrytis. The finish is complex, tight, very long and expressive in its firm, mineral character. A great Kupp with a long life ahead. Tasted from AP 7 in June 2019.
