65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. Lots to like (except for the extravagant price!). Intense, concentrated, dark hue in the glass. Love the floral notes with violet to the fore. Plenty of tannic power, this has all the concentration needed to age extremely well for up to 10 years. But hard to argue it's good value. (AWH)

The 2022 Le Serre Nuove Dell'Ornellaia is 60% Merlot, with the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. In the glass, it boasts a deep red/purple-tinged color and offers pretty aromas of graphite, currants, cedar, hints of vanilla, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate has rich concentration, with plush richness on the mid-palate, a velvety and juicy texture, good freshness, and a balanced warmth on the finish. It has very pleasing freshness through the finish with delicate Mediterranean savor. Allow another year for this vintage to come together more completely. Drink 2026-2040.
The Ornellaia 2022 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a blend of 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc that saw 15 months in barrique with one-third new oak. Following in the general Ornellaia philosophy, the team has been leaning off long maceration times for more delicate extraction. Blending for this wine usually occurs 12 months after fermentation. This vintage is structured and rich with sweet tannins and a supple texture. This hot vintage brings more fruit weight for sure, but the wine remains fresh and well balanced overall.
Excellent, full of energy and grip, love the lift here. Love that here you feel these Bordeaux grapes have a reason for being, they are bringing their own character and intensity, and feel like you are in coastal Tuscany, with dried herbs, fennel spice, raspberry, just a lovely lovely wine. You'd be super happy to open this now, but you can keep it. Higher Merlot than usual in this, and yet the tannins are present, providing a channel for the fruit to go through. 30% new oak, held back for six months in bottle.
