Score 95/100 · Drink 2020-2040, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, May 2019

The 2016 Campo di Camagi is precise, polished and bright. It is perhaps a bit more reserved or closed than the others in this series of single-vineyard Cabernet Francs, but it should open up with due time. This will be an interesting wine to watch as it continues its evolution. It has spent eight months in new barrique and 11 in concrete, with only 1,650 bottles made. This is a very Tuscan expression of Cabernet Franc with Mediterranean herb and sun-drenched fruit flavors. The alcohol is measured at 15%, making it the highest among this set of three single-vineyard wines (Campo di Magnacosta, Campo di Tenaglia and Campo di Camagi).

The 2016 Campo di Camagi, 100% Cabernet Franc from a parcel planted on quartz and limestone, is the most mineral and savory of the three pure Franc wines in this range from Trinoro. Graphite, gravel, smoke, lavender, sage and menthol all add shades of complexity. A wine of explosive power, precision and energy, the 2016 is simply tremendous. That's all there is to it.

100% Cabernet Franc from a 1.5-hectare vineyard on broken quartz and limestone with a thin layer of soil, at 600 meters (2,000 feet). The densely planted vines struggled for room until they reached a balance with a fully developer root system. Already quite sweet and mellow. Good bite – attractive combination of ripe fruit, tanginess (almost like Sangiovese) and amazing persistence. You don't actually notice the high alcohol. (JR)
